Should I Take the Sculptured Rocker Class?
I have received many inquiries about taking the rocker class since I taught the original class in 2009. It really is concern about the question, Am I a good enough woodworker to benefit from or fit into the class?
I teach the class step by step trying not to assume too much about where each woodworker in the class is with their skill sets and experiences. Many students are new woodworkers having minimal experience and a few skill sets, while some have built the rocker already from my bundle. If you are a “Newbie”, I am going to teach every step and my assistant and myself are going to help you observe and coach you through your hands-on experiences of executing each step. My assistant and I will try to supportively challenge you and nurture you through the class to a positive outcome. For students who are experienced woodworkers or professionals, we will do the same thing for you. In most cases, every step will have something for you to accomplish that will strengthen your experience, while practicing skills and strategies that may differ from the way you would have done the same thing. Our aim is to help you grow as a woodworker, while becoming inspired to know you can do it! Each woodworker will benefit from trying new tools and being immersed in total woodworking for 8 hours during each day of the class. We will not let you engage in any woodworking activity that will place your safety in danger and everyone will receive outstanding support and respect.
The most important tools you need to bring to the class are patients and perseverance. If you judge yourself to have those personal characteristics then you are ready to become a Rock’N Chairman!
